Abstract בעשורים האחרונים אנו עדים לתמורות משמעותיות הן במבנה התעסוקה ושוק העבודה והן במבנה המשפחה. מבין התהליכים הכלכליים, החברתיים והפוליטיים בולטת העלייה בשיעור המשפחות שבהן שני ההורים משתתפים בשוק העבודה, אם כי קיימים הבדלים ניכרים בשיעור זה בין תת-קבוצות באוכלוסייה. השינויים במבנה התעסוקה ובשוק העבודה יוצרים הזדמנויות לגיבוש תבניות חדשות של מערכות משפחה - עבודה, ומשקפים את הערכים והפרקטיקה של המאה ה- 21 . עם זאת, בעיות חדשות מתעוררות בכל הקשור לשילוב שני התחומים – משפחה ועבודה, והן מתבטאות, בין היתר, בלחצים המקשים על משפחות שבהן שני מפרנסים או מפרנס אחד, (במקרה של משפחה חד-הורית) , ופוגמים באיכות חייהן . בישראל, משפחות אלו מתפקדות בהקשר תרבותי ופוליטי שמרני בכל הנוגע ליחסי מגדר ולמקומה של האישה במשפחה. אי לכך, האיזון בין עבודה וחיי משפחה נתפס כבעיה של נשים , ומצופה מהן שהשתלבותן בעבודה תיעשה תוך שמירה על תפקידי הליבה שלהן במשפחה.

Abstract "This book is intended to provide a working knowledge of those parts of exterior differential forms, differential geometry, algebraic and differential topology, Lie groups, vector bundles, and Chern forms that are essential for a deeper understanding of both classical and modern physics and engineering. Included are discussions of analytical and fluid dynamics, electromagnetism (in flat and curved space), thermodynamics, the deformation tensors of elasticity, soap films, special and general relativity, the Dirac operator and spinors, and gauge fields, including Yang-Mills, the Aharonov-Bohm effect, Berry phase, and instanton winding numbers, quarks, and the quark model for mesons. Before a discussion of abstract notions of differential geometry, geometric intuition is developed through a rather extensive introduction to the study of surfaces in ordinary space; consequently, the book should be of interest also to mathematics students. This book will be useful to graduate and advance undergraduate students of physics, engineering or mathematics. It can be used as a course text or for self-study. Abstract The Austrian sociologist Otto Neurath was a seminal figure of twentieth-century modernist thought. Member of the Vienna Circle, founder of the Museum of Society and Economy, inventor of the famous Isotype pictorial system and champion of the Unity of Science movement, Neurath espoused a vision of a "global polis" that put him in contact with the leading intellectuals, architects and artists of his time, from Adolf Loos to Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, from Sigfried Giedion to Le Corbusier, from graphic designer Gerd Arntz to architect and urban designer Cornelis van Eesteren. From 1931onwards he collaborated with the International Congress of Modern Architecture (CIAM) and its chief exponents-Cornelis van Eesteren, Sigfried Giedion, Le Corbusier and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy-to construct an international language of urban planning and design. His close relationship with bibliographer Paul Otlet and the "cité mondiale" project led to an engagement with issues of international communication. Now in paperback, The Language of the Global Polis explores Neurath’s ideas on the modern metropolis, his fascination with visual media and the Vienna Method of Pictorial Statistics and the ways in which Neurath attempted to internationalize the aims of his Museum of Society and Economy through collaborations with CIAM and Otlet and by establishing satellite museums across the world. Abstract With scripting, computer programming becomes integral to the digital design process. It provides unique opportunities for innovation, enabling the designer to customise the software around their own predilections and modes of working. It liberates the designer by automating many routine aspects and repetitive activities of the design process, freeing-up the designer to spend more time on design thinking. Software that is modified through scripting offers a range of speculations that are not possible using the software only as the manufacturers intended it to be used. Abstract בספטמבר 1949 התקבל בכנסת הראשונה "חוק שירות ביטחון, התש"ט-1949". ספרה של חוה ברונפלד-שטיין עוסק בפניו החזותיות והמגדריות של החוק וממוקד בתצלומים של חיילות צה"ל מהשנים 1948-1968. אף על פי שתצלומי חיילות היו ועודם חלק ממארג הדימויים של התרבות הישראלית, ספר זה הוא הראשון שעוסק בתרומתם של תצלומי חיילות להתפרשותו של ה"מיליטריזם האזרחי" בישראל. הספר בוחן פרקטיקות גופניות ומרחביות אשר דרכן החוק מגולם. הדיון בתצלומים חושף תיאטרון של פעולות – תרגילי סדר, מדים ותסרוקות – אשר דרכו הלוגוס של החברה המיליטריסטית בישראל קורם עור וגידים, אוחז בגופים והופכם ללוחות החוק. חוה ברונפלד-שטיין מצביעה על תצלומי חיילות כאחד ממאפייניו התרבותיים של ה"מיליטריזם האזרחי", ומאירה על זיקות שבין גיוס נשים ותצלומי חיילות להקסמות חברתית מצבאיות. ניתוחה חושף את תצלומי החיילות כמכשירי לגיטימציה לאתוס ולארוס, כ"גשר חזותי" ונשא של ערכים צבאיים, ליברליים ומודרניים, אך חשוב מכך כ"דרך קיצור" לעונג חזותי.
התצלומים נעים על קו הרצף בין שתי מערכות ייצוג: בין "כך זה היה" ל"זה אנו משתוקקים", בין מיליטריזצייה של ספרה פרטית לארוטיזצייה של המרחב הצבאי. הדימוי החזותי "חיילת צה"ל" לכוד בתווך בין דימוי ה"עבריה החדשה" לדימוי הדתייה החסודה, בין דימויים של גוף חשוף לדימויים של גוף עטוף, ובין מהוגנות בורגנית למרדנות סוציאליסטית. ייצוגיה החזותיים לכודים בין האדרה להטרדה, בין מידת צניעות למידת פריצות, ובין "המשפחה הקטנה" ל"משפחה הגדולה". ספרה של ברונפלד-שטיין מצביע על היחס הארוטי שמפעפע למערכת הסמלית באמצעות תצלומי חיילות, ומסווג את התצלומים כצורת ביטוי תרבותית וייחודית של "תשוקה מיליטריסטית". דרכם משורטטות פניו הארוטיות של המיליטריזם בישראל אשר אותו מכנה הספר "מיליטריזם ארוטי".
