תיאור/תקציר

No one raves about boring movies, bland customer service experiences, or sleep-inducing classes. The world is rapidly transforming into an experience economy as people increasingly crave extraordinary experiences.Experience designers, marketers, entertainment producers, and retailers have long sought to fill this craving. Now, there's a scientific formula to consistently create extraordinary experiences. The data shows that those who use this formula increase the impact of experiences tenfold. Creating the extraordinary used to be extraordinarily hard. Immersion offers a framework for transforming nearly any situation from ordinary to extraordinary. Based on twenty years of neuroscience research from his lab and innumerable client applications, Dr. Paul J. Zak explains why brains crave the extraordinary. Clear instructions and examples show readers exactly how to create amazing experiences for customers, prospects, employees, audiences, and learners. You can guess if your experience will be extraordinary--or you can apply the insights from Immersion to ensure it is.

תיאור/תקציר

"The first American retrospective of artist Philip Guston's (1913-1980) career in over 15 years. Scholarly essays trace the influences, interests, and evolution of this singular force in modern and contemporary art--including a close look at the 1960s and 1970s, when Guston abandoned abstraction, returning to the figure and to current history but with a personal voice, by turns comic and apocalyptic, that resonates today more than ever"--Provided by publisher.

Georg Baselitz : drinkers & orange eaters.

תיאור/תקציר

Published on the occasion of the exhibition Georg Baselitz: Drinkers and Orange Eaters, this book is a full catalogue raisonné of the two series, which date from 1981-1982. The catalogue includes full plate images of the 27 paintings that comprise this body of work, as well as select detail images. Accompanying the reproductions is the essay “Oranges and Apples” by Katy Siegel, historical studio images, and a complete annotated catalogue of all works. In the Drinkers and Orange Eaters, Baselitz reacts to the work of his German Expressionist predecessors — Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Emil Nolde, among others—paying homage to his artistic forefathers while simultaneously establishing distance from them. Championed as a leading exponent of German Neo-Expressionist painting, Baselitz displays a newfound freedom from ideological pressures with these works. Baselitz explains, “The '80s helped me to rearrange everything; I was able to set up a whole range of ideas and experiences anew, which meant I was able to break everything down so I could make something out of it again.” These two series are regarded as some of Baselitz’s most expressive and vividly colorful works, emphasizing the physicality of paint and gestural brushstrokes. Baselitz said of this series, “I was boxing with both hands, so to speak,” using form, style and color to shatter traditional assumptions. The Drinkers and Orange Eaters represent a critical time in history and an evolving ideology of liberation.
