In recent months, we have built a new main website for the Institute. We have taken care to implement all accessibility rules in accordance with Israeli Standard 5568, which also refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Accessibility Adjustments for Existing Public Places that are Institutions of Higher Education and for the Higher Education Services They Provide) 5777-2016, which require that all higher education services be made accessible and address a wide range of people with disabilities as defined in the Equal Rights Law.
As a result of our actions, the new website is already much more accessible than its predecessor. It should be noted that on the new website, the user experience for persons with disabilities is significantly improved compared to the previous website. The website was built on a platform that enables full accessibility. At this time, the Institute continues to diligently implement accessibility guidelines in the website interface. This work is carried out in consultation with a certified service accessibility expert specializing in technology and online environments.
In addition, the Institute operates numerous websites aimed at various professional audiences and managed by different entities. We make every effort to review each website and assess its level of accessibility. This in-depth work is conducted individually for each site. We strive for all websites to meet the mandatory standard in Israel for institutions of higher education, in order to ensure full accessibility out of a moral and ethical commitment to the issue of accessibility. We believe that the online environment must be open and optimally accessible to the entire public, and we act to implement this in our work plans and daily operations. The Institute’s employees are fully committed to this important goal.
Website “Mabat” for Faculty Final Projects
The website presents student projects that are not intended for the general public or an undefined audience, but rather for a specific audience that includes the teaching staff. The page interface is accessible, as is the description of each project.
For more information about a specific project, please contact:
Faculty of Design: full name Hamada Cohen, Head of the Faculty Administration
Faculty of Instructional Technologies: full name Oren Ben Aharon, Head of the Faculty Administration
We are working to promote a process to make the projects accessible. This is an organization-wide process involving students and lecturers.
Implementation of Accessibility Adjustments on the Website
The accessibility adjustments on the website shall be carried out and completed in accordance with Chapter C – Internet Services of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments for Service) Regulations and the Israeli Standard IS 5568. The website shall be made accessible to level AA, subject to the modifications and adaptations specified in the Israeli standard document.
Upon completion of the implementation of all accessibility rules according to the latest gap report and the end of the pilot period, the website will support the use of assistive technologies as part of its infrastructure through uncompromising implementation of the four guiding principles of web accessibility: the principle of perception, principles enabling full keyboard functionality, with particular emphasis on the principle of comprehension given the educational and informational nature of the website, and the principle of technological compatibility. Implementation of all the above will allow the use of all types of assistive technologies such as the commonly used screen readers JAWS and NVDA, on smartphones with the built-in screen reader VoiceOver for operating systems iOS and Android, as well as the built-in screen reader TalkBack on Android systems.
This website can already be browsed optimally and accessibly using all popular browsers.
