Programs for Female Students
We offer unique training and leadership development programs for female students, including:
- “HaNivharot” (The Chosen Ones)
- “HaMovilot” (The Leaders)
- “AliceCode” (mentoring elementary school girls in computer science)
These programs aim to equip participants with the tools necessary for a successful career in technology and to increase their presence in the engineering and science fields.
Faculty and Staff Development
We also conduct activities for academic and administrative staff focusing on raising awareness of gender gaps and embedding an egalitarian approach in teaching, research, and management.
These initiatives are part of a comprehensive effort to create an equitable learning and work environment that advances women at all organizational levels.
Statement of Commitment
HIT – Holon Institute of Technology is committed to gender equity, recognizing its human capital as its most genuine and significant asset.
As an academic institution that trains engineers, designers, scientists, and technology professionals who successfully integrate into the knowledge-intensive industry in Israel and worldwide, HIT views gender equity as one of its central objectives. This commitment is reflected in the institute’s strategic plan, which has been presented to the Council for Higher Education (CHE) and is funded by the institute.
In accordance with CHE guidelines, the institute employs a Presidential Advisor for Gender Equity in Academia, who coordinates all aspects related to female students and staff members and manages the Gender Equity Unit. Additionally, the advisor coordinates the collection and monitoring of gender-related data according to metrics established by the CHE and reports to the CHE annually as instructed.
Our Initiatives
As part of our gender equity program objectives, we have developed unique leadership programs for female students at the institute, including dedicated programs for STEM fields.
Additionally, the institute provides training for academic and administrative staff members on various gender-related topics and leads and partners in programs and projects to advance this issue in academia and society.
The activities of the Gender Equity Unit undergo regular monitoring and evaluation processes that are reported to the institute’s management.
