Data Science is a critical force in the Age of AI – rapidly transforming our world and shaping the future of humanity.
With omnipresent AI penetrating all aspects of life and technology, the demand for well-trained Data Science experts, who can analyze data and develop algorithms to
optimize data utilization, is booming everywhere:
from the defense and financial industries through medical and cyber applications, to filmmaking, face ID, autonomous vehicles, and much more.
A pioneer of Data Science in Israel, HIT introduced some of the country’s first advanced AI courses in its Faculties of Science and Engineering as early as 2016. In 2022 the independent Data Science Department was established, dedicated exclusively to this reality-changing discipline. Today the Department offers a 2-year M.Sc. program in 3 tracks – Intelligent Systems, Data Science for Health Systems & Medical Technologies, and Business & Industrial Intelligence – annually attracting dozens of students from both HIT and other institutions across Israel.
Grasping AI’s enormous scope of impact, HIT’s Data Science Dept.
accepts and trains students from a wide range of disciplines, providing them with the knowledge and practical tools they need to develop AI algorithms in the fields of their choice.
A novel initiative launched in 2025 brings to the Department workshops emphasizing industry’s greatest needs – such as AI agents, GIT, Weights & Biases, clean code, and more – led by experts from relevant corporations.
Ultimately, HIT’s M.Sc. in Data Science prepares its graduates for immediate employment across the technological industry.
All faculty members at the Data Science Dept. are also engaged in research in their respective fields of expertise – including AI applications in medicine, cyber, mathematics, NLP (natural language processing), and statistics.
Obtaining grants from competitive funds, they collaborate with researchers and experts from other academic institutions, medical centers, industrial corporations, etc.
