Applied mathematics is a critical discipline in current-day technology, underlying numerous innovations alongside everyday operations.
Translating practical problems and challenges into the language of mathematics, applied mathematicians develop algorithms and devise effective solutions in diverse areas such as physics, engineering, cyber and computer science, machine learning, robotics, signal processing, medicine, and many more.

Consequently, applied mathematics professionals are in great demand throughout the modern marketplace

B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics

HIT’s B.Sc. program in Applied Mathematics trains skilled professionals who can tackle complex and challenging problems in the hi-tech industry and related fields. Providing a solid mathematical background, the program focuses on AI and Data Science with respect to both theory and practice.

The program’s students engage in hands-on projects, often addressing real-world challenges in collaboration with corporations, to enable interaction with professionals in industry and other disciplines.

An international committee of the Council for Higher Education in Israel recently ranked HIT’s Applied Mathematics B.Sc. high among Israel’s academic mathematics programs.

Students & Alumni

A large percentage of the students in HIT’s Applied Mathematics program come from ‘Metzuyanoar’ (Excellence for Youth) – a unique HIT program enabling outstanding high school students to engage in academic studies and complete their B.Sc. degree one year after graduating from high school.

Most are then recruited into the IDF, serving in elite roles that require their exceptional skills.

Other students and alumni can choose to study for advanced academic degrees or work in organizations across Israeli industry, where they are in great demand. Today our graduates can be found in key positions in many leading technological companies, such as Google, Intel, IBM, the Defense Industry, and more

Faculty

All faculty members at the Applied Mathematics Department hold PhDs, and some are Professors.
Bringing extensive teaching experience to their educational mission, they serve as outstanding lecturers and inspiring mentors for all students.

Research

The Department’s faculty are actively involved in both theoretical and applied research, contributing to a vast range of fields – including AI, medicine, signal processing, computer vision and many more.
