A rapidly growing field, Computer Science underlies much of humanity’s progress over the past 50 years – including world-changing AI.
Thus, studies and research in Computer Science provide a key to a better future – for both individuals and society.
The School of Computer Science is HIT’s largest school, with close to 2,000 students in its 3-year B.Sc. program. The rich undergraduate curriculum equips students with the essential theoretical and mathematical basics, alongside comprehensive hands-on software and hardware expertise, then offers them a choice of advanced specializations: machine learning, AI, cyber, robotics, internet and networks, software engineering, or computer vision and graphics.
Through the dynamic program students also acquire a range of soft skills critical for the rapidly changing technological job market – such as teamwork, problem solving, independent study and research capabilities, and an all-important sense of curiosity.
Primarily industry-oriented, the program collaborates closely with many companies and organizations – employing external lecturers from different industries and offering students a wealth of opportunities to engage in real-world projects and research.
Emphasizing an opportunity-for-all policy, the School offers both morning and evening programs, enabling working students – some of them first generation in academia, coming from low-income backgrounds – to obtain an academic degree and build their future in the advanced technological industry.
Most of the School’s graduates find employment soon after graduation, rising to senior positions – in international conglomerates such as Apple and Google, in the flourishing Israeli hi-tech sector and high-end defense industry, or in innovative startups.
Other alumni choose to continue their studies toward advanced academic degrees.
Wherever they choose to go, they contribute to the rapidly changing technological environment of the 21st century.
