Prof. Refael Brakan, incoming President of HIT, eulogized him, saying: “Dr. Berlovitz made many contributions in his various public service roles over the years, both at the Ministry of Health and at Wolfson Medical Center. He was an active partner in shaping the pioneering program in Digital Medical Technologies, supported it tirelessly, and laid the foundations for the fruitful cooperation in research and innovation between HIT and Wolfson Medical Center.
Dr. Berlovitz later joined HIT’s academic faculty in the master’s program in Information and Technology Management in Healthcare Systems, in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology Management, where he taught the course ‘Healthcare Systems’ with great success. He will be deeply missed”, said Prof. Brakan.
Prof. Eduard Yakubov, HIT’s outgoing President, recounted that he first met Dr. Berlovitz when he was director of Wolfson Medical Center, and was pleased to discover a very wise and attentive person. After recognizing his many abilities and being impressed by his unique personality, he invited him to join the Institute’s teaching staff. “We had many meetings through ‘Rotary Holon,’ during which we held interesting conversations,” Prof. Yakubov added. “I knew he still had much to contribute to higher education at a time when it is undergoing dramatic changes, and I received the news of his passing with great sadness. May his memory be a blessing.”
