Scanning Electron Microscopy Lab

#Sciences

This educational, research, and service lab offers hands-on training and expert support in specimen preparation and analysis on the TESCAN VEGA3 LMU scanning electron microscope (SEM), equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and a high-resolution XL30 Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM) featuring field emission gun (FEG) system

Scanning Electron Microscopy Lab

Its SEM-EDS technology enables non-destructive elemental analysis and high-resolution imaging of nanometer to large-scale areas, critical for research in materials science, electronics, chemistry, biology, and engineering.

The lab prepares and coats samples (with carbon or gold) to ensure optimal imaging and analysis, and routinely performs tasks like X-ray mapping, quantitative analyses, and topographical studies for a range of materials, including alloys, ceramics, semiconductors, and biological samples.
These services are provided both to HIT faculty members and external entities, such other academic institutions and Industry.
