About the HOPE Project

The HOPE Project (Higher Education for Openness, Peace & Empathy) is an innovative Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) initiative that started in November 2025 and will be completed in November 2028. The project establishes a transformative global and local partnership, uniting 11 leading educational institutions across Germany, Greece, and Israel:

Why the School of Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) @ HIT’s Participation is Essential

It is vital for MDS to take a prominent role in this project to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions in promoting reconciliation, constructive conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. By taking part in this initiative, HIT is actively helping to develop a specialized curriculum designed to foster intercultural dialogue and support the coexistence of all diverse populations in Israel, including Arabs, Jews, Druze, religious, and secular communities. This inclusive effort is particularly crucial in the wake of recent regional conflicts. By aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this project allows HIT to help shift the dialogue toward human security and empathy.

MDS’s Leading Role in the Consortium

As a key Israeli partner in the international consortium, HIT’s School of Multidisciplinary Studies, proudly leads the stage of Piloting and Implementation. In this critical capacity, HIT is responsible for:

  • Piloting the Peace Education Curriculum: Leading the testing and refining of the project’s educational frameworks.
  • Organizing Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs): Developing and hosting experiential, immersive peace education programs for students that blend online theory with physical workshops.
  • Facilitating Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL): Creating virtual, collaborative environments to support the joint training and international cooperation of educators and students.

Key Academic Expected Impact

Over the course of three years, the HOPE consortium expects to achieve a massive educational impact:

  • Directly train 100+ faculty and staff members in diverse classroom pedagogies.
  • Equip 1,000+ students with actionable skills in dialogue, empathy, and conflict transformation.
  • Engage 1,000+ external stakeholders, including policymakers, religious leaders, and civil society representatives.
    collaborative initiatives are essential for bridging gaps and creating innovative solutions.
