Head of M.A program in Instructional Technologies

In today’s complex world, in-house training and learning have become a critical growth engine for most organizations and corporations.
To meet this challenge, L&D (Learning & Development) units deliver essential knowledge and training to both employees and external bodies or customers. The abilities required for developing and delivering such programs have become a new profession in itself, requiring special knowledge and expertise.

M.A. in Instructional Technologies

First and only program of its kind

HIT’s M.A. program in Instructional Technologies is the first and only one of its kind in Israel, and one of very few worldwide. The program trains professionals specifically for organizational L&D operations, designed to systematically improve employees’ skills and performance – a crucial function in modern organizations.

With a strong emphasis on learning technologies (including AI), the state-of-the-art program consists of four main clusters:

  • Learning development – How to develop contents and processes for effective learning
  • Technology – How to enhance learning process via advanced technological tools
  • Research – How to conduct research, including data collection, analysis and impact assessment. About 50% of the students carry out a research project, often in the Faculty’s AI or UX laboratories.
  • Instruction management – How to lead learning processes in organizations

Pioneering Certification in AI based Learning & Development (L&D)

To address the irreversible advent of omnipresent AI, posing unprecedented challenges and opportunities to both teaching and learning practices everywhere, the M.A. program has recently launched a unique track for certification in AI-based instructional technologies – providing a wide range of tools for developing AI-driven learning solutions and a new set of skills for future L&D professionals.

Direct Track

A special group within the program are the outstanding students in the Direct Track, who begin their M.A. studies as 3rd-year undergraduates, ultimately completing both degrees in 4 years. Highly technology-focused, this unique track equips its capable participants with a range of advanced skills, including marketing expertise, design thinking, digital product design, training AI models, and more.

Students & Alumni

The M.A. in Instructional Technologies caters mostly to older students who already hold BA degrees and work in various sectors (e.g. education, nonprofits, government, EdTech, etc.) and now wish to expand their professional capabilities and career opportunities. The vast majority of the program’s students and alumni find gainful employment either during their studies or soon after graduation.

Research

The faculty and students of HIT’s unique Faculty of Instructional Technologies are involved in vast research activities.
Receiving prestigious grants from EU’s Horizon Europe program, GIF (German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research & Development) and other Israeli and international funds, they collaborate with top institutions both in Israel and worldwide, participate in global conferences, and publish their works in leading scientific journals.
