HIT’s Living Lab is a member of ENOLL – the European Network of Living Labs – and serves as an open research and innovation space, in the form of a smart sensor-fitted apartment designed as a multidisciplinary meeting point for science, technology, healthcare and design.
The Lab addresses challenges faced by patients, mainly the elderly, in their home environment, including physiological, functional, cognitive and behavioral/mental perspectives. This Lab is 67 sqm. two room “smart-home” that emulates a natural home environment, offering an optimized space for researching, developing and testing advanced homecare technologies.
The Lab implements a multidisciplinary Research and Development (R&D) approach to devising technological tools for individuals at home to assist in early detection and diagnosis, intervention and follow-up. Working in close collaboration with top clinicians, the Lab identifies and responds to real-world challenges, with an emphasis on user friendliness, affordability and compliance alongside safety, privacy and information security regulations.
