Over the course of two days, selected ideas from medical teams and hospital staff were developed and evaluated alongside leading partners from industry and academia. Out of 170 submitted ideas, four projects advanced to the final.
Daniel Samarjian and his team claimed first place for their proposal to develop IntuVision an AI- and deep learning-based system for predicting difficult intubation.
The winning team’s prize includes full hospital-backed support to advance the project through to the clinical phase, as well as a group cash award of ₪5,000. Working alongside Samarjian were Dr. Assaf Berman, a resident physician in the Anesthesia, Pain, and Intensive Care Division; Prof. Barak Cohen; Dr. Adam Lustig; Dr. Ruth Shailer; Amit Rafel; Eran Tesamma; Hila Nistel and Oren Sadeh.
Dr. Refael Barkan, Vice President and founder of the Digital Medical Technologies program at HIT, served on the semifinal judging panel.

Daniel Samarjian added: “This win is proof that combining advanced technology with medicine can lead to real improvements in patients’ lives. Working within a multidisciplinary team allowed us to develop a solution with genuine potential to change the way critical care is delivered in the hospital.”
