In Israel’s powerful technological and economic environment, organizations need a professional work force that combines engineering, economics, technology, and data management to advance their strategic goals. The B.Sc. and M.Sc. at HIT's Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology Management are carefully designed to do exactly that: forge generations of future managers and knowledge engineers who have the expertise, innovative spirit and experience to create and/or improve products and services in business and industry.

 

Graduates of the Faculty are already managing and leading projects and processes in such organizations as Amdocs, SAP, Ericson, Israel Aircraft Industry, and Israel's Ministry of Defense. In these positions they bring to bear the analytic capabilities and original thinking skills they acquired as they earned their degrees.

 

The Faculty is equipped with a variety of laboratories - robotics, big data, ergonomics, and SAP - where students can experiment with the latest technologies. 
 

Laboratories


The laboratory for Automation, Robotics and Analytic Intelligence for Smart Industrial Engineering (AURIS ) is the flagship lab of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology Management. Established in 2020, the lab is used for teaching and research in the fields of automation, robotics, networks of things, artificial intelligence, and knowledge management (databases, data, business intelligence).

The Industrial Automation and IoT laboratory, established in 2018, is used for research, as well as faculty and student exchange programs and students' final projects. Research at the laboratory is based on low-cost computing and manufacturing, sensing, control and operation technologies, along with problems-based automation systems. Projects have addressed such issues as robotics and safety, smart storage, and parking solutions.

Established in 2016, the Big Data lab is used for studying parallel processing and data mining algorithms in the HADOOP environment. The laboratory serves projects of both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as research by faculty members from all Faculties at HIT. Examples of projects and research carried out in this laboratory include DBSCAN algorithm expansion capability, and SQL vs. HIVE.

Established in 2014 The ERP lab enables students to experiment with the implementation of business functions and processes in an unmediated manner, using advanced software. By doing so, they acquire both academic and practical capabilities for managing organizational resources.

Established in 2017, the BIA lab is used for students' projects as well as research on business intelligence (data analysis, text analysis, knowledge engineering in general), and automation (integration of robots and IoT for the benefit of the organization, automation of computer processes). The lab also serves other academic entities on campus.

Established in 2016, the Human Factors Engineering lab serves students and faculty investigating the capabilities and performance of human operators of complex systems – in order to enhance factors such as efficiency, productivity, safety, user satisfaction, and work quality, while minimizing errors and accidents. Current studies focus on: human factors in road safety, risk and hazard perception, situation awareness, and quality and safety in organizational settings. The lab promotes collaborations with other Faculties on the HIT campus as well as researchers from other academic institutions.
