Direct Ph.D. Program. in Japan

About the program

Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) opens a new program: “Direct Ph.D. in Japan”. Successful candidates will enroll into a five-year long program at the University of Tsukuba. 
The program is divided into two parts. First two years are equivalent to Master’s Degree and the following three years are equivalent to Ph.D. 
Upon completion, the graduates are granted Ph.D. in Philosophy in Engineering or Medical Sciences or Science from the University of Tsukuba. 
The program has a full scholarship that covers all necessary expenses in Japan for the entire period of the course. 

Candidates

Students in their last year of studies or graduates of HIT in the fields of: Electric and electronics engineering, Digital Medical Technologies, Computer sciences, Applied Mathematics. 

Humanics degree

The Ph.D. Program in Humanics will welcome students who have studied either biomedical sciences or physical sciences/engineering/informatics, and who are willing to study the other discipline and fuse them together. People who have worked as a physician or an engineer are also very welcome. 

About University of Tsukuba (UT)

University of Tsukuba is one of the TOP10 universities in Japan based on: Times Higher Education (THE) University Rankings, QS University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU or Shanghai Ranking). It should be noted that Japan has around 800 universities. World ranking varies depending on the evaluation metric. For example, based on QS, UT’s rank is 198 and Tel-Aviv University is ranked 230, while on the ARWU ranking their position is reversed. University of Tsukuba has had three Nobel laureates. Given its high ranking in Japan, the entrance examination to University of Tsukuba is highly competitive. Overall difficulty is currently graded as “A1” or 2 on a 10-point scale (1 is highest and 10 is lowest difficulty level).
