ANNOUNCEMENT
We are organizing the Conference "Complex and Harmonic Analysis III" devoted to the memory of Prof. Uri Srebro. The event will be held on June 4--8, 2017 in two locations: Holon Institute of Technology and the Technion.
The meeting will provide a forum for discussions and exchange of new ideas, concepts and recent developments in the broad field of Modern Analysis.
The topics to be addressed include (but not restricted to)
- * Complex Analysis
- * Harmonic Analysis and PDE
- * Quasiconformal mappings and Geometry
The previous meeting "Complex and Harmonic Analysis" was held at Holon Institute of Technology in April 2016, and organized by Bar-Ilan University, Holon Institute of Technology, and ORT Braude College of Engineering.
Professor Uri Srebro was born in 1936 in Tel Aviv. He obtained bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, completing his DSc in 1968 under the guidance of Elisha Netanyahu. After postdoctoral studies at the University of Minnesota and shorter visits to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and to the University of Helsinki, he returned to the Technion in 1969, where he remained on the faculty until his retirement. Following retirement from the Technion, he also served as Dean of Engineering at the Holon Institute of Technology. Professor Srebro passed away in May 2016 in Tel-Aviv. His areas of research and interest include quasiconformal and quasiregular mappins, Beltrami equations, branched folded mappings, covering theorems for meromorphic functions, immersions of manifolds and discrete Moebius groups. He helped to organize the Special Year in Complex Analysis at the Technion in 1975-76 and later on was active in organizing many other international conferences in his fields of interest. He has also been a long-term visitor at many of the leading centers of complex analysis, including in College Park Maryland, Helsinki, Jyvaeskylae, Ann Arbor, San Diego, Purdue, Uppsala, Auckland and Urbana-Champaign, where he is remembered by many collaborators.
