Incorporating NLP into the Israeli Capital Market

Incorporating NLP into the Israeli Capital Market

Dr. Alon Zilburg, Israel Securities Authority

Session I: March 30th, 11:00-11:20

The proposed lecture will review the challenges and opportunities of adopting NLP based applications in the Israeli capital market, as viewed by the Israel Securities Authority (ISA). NLP capabilities as applied to capital markets sit at the crossroads of two major technological trends: A transverse trend (across industries) consisting of the increasing viability and use of AI and a longitudinal trend of increasing data-centric sophistication in the financial sector (Fintech). Operating under its strategic objective of advancing technological innovation in the capital market, the ISA seeks to establish the local market at the forefront of these intersecting trends. As a sector which is driven by textual reporting and where timing is crucial, NLP capabilities hold far reaching consequences for capital markets1. The lecture aims to broadcast both needs and possible effects in the field to leading organizations in academia and industry. The nascent stage of Hebrew NLP only enhances the opportunity.
