Redesigning classroom for ASD students

Redesigning primary school classroom for ASD students

Our students designed a new classroom space adapted to the needs and routine of students with ASD (autism). The project included classroom observations, repeated meetings with teachers and clinical staff, literature review and examination of existing solutions. The design intervention focused on the following most significant needs:
(1) Reduction of visual and auditory stimuli.
(2) Supporting students in the organizing phase prior to the lesson.
(3) Creating a relaxation corner that will be a place where students can break away from the classroom environment and
soothe themselves when necessary.
