The Laboratory of the Theoretical Problems of Quantum Electronics was created in 2000 at HIT after getting the grant of the Academy of Sciences of Israel.

The aim of the laboratory is solving and modeling physical problems related to the quantum control of semiconductors and complex organic and bio- molecules in solutions with intense ultrashort phase modulated laser pulses. In the last time, emphasis is given to nanosystems. The corresponding experiments were carried out at the Ultrafast Laser Laboratory by Prof. D. Huppert (Tel-Aviv University) (2000-2004) and at the Laboratory for Quantum Electronics by Prof. J.-Y. Bigot (Institute of the Physics and Chemistry of Materials, Strasbourg, France) (2001-2002).

The sources of financing the laboratory are:

 1) The Israel Science Foundation (2000-2004).

2) French-Israeli Scientific and Technical Cooperation Program Arc-EN-Ciel-Keshet (Grant of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israel Ministry of Science) (2001-2002).

3) Ministry of Absorption of Israel.

4) Tel-Aviv University (joint postdoc fellow).

The head of the laboratory is Prof. Boris Fainberg (HIT).

The lab staff:

 - Dr. V. Narbaev (2000-2001).

- Dr. V. Gorbunov (2000-2007).

- Dr. B. Levinsky (2001-present).

- Dr. D. Ray (2009 - ) - joint postdoc fellow with TAU.

Visitings:

 - Prof. V. Smirnov, State Optical Institute, St.-Petersburg, Russia (February-May, 2001).

- Prof. T. Tanimura, Institute for Molecular Science, Okazaki, Japan (June, 2001).

Current cooperation:

 - Prof. A. Nitzan (TAU) (since 2006).

- Prof. H. Hanggi and S. Kohler (University of Augsburg) (since 2007).

The laboratory and his staff can be considered as a basis for future training students on speciality "Quantum Electronics".
