Interview for the KULTURA.UZ website with
Prof. Avaz Markhimov, Rector of the National University. M. Ulugbek:

- What do you think is must to be done for successful cooperation work and what is being done for this now?
We now have a number of joint projects, but it is very important to know each other better. We must understand what are the main priorities of our Israeli partners, learn how and what students are learn here. The Israeli partners are also interested in many things. For example, what we are doing today in the field of science, what are our priorities and subjects, which are our scientists. Last year we jointly organized an international conference in Tashkent on modern mathematics and physics, and worldwide science. The event was a great success, confirming that research is developing well in conducting fundamental research and these or other discoveries.  Our Israeli colleagues and we aspire to this. The fact that we were invited to take lectures at the HIT, certainly speaks volumes and for us this memorable visit.

- How do you rate your meetings with your Israeli colleagues?
It was about a series of grants, we agreed on the exchange of students. Israeli students now will study one semester in UNNz, visit lectures of our leading researchers. We visited a number of universities and agreed that their leading specialists will lecture at NUUz. This is also an important visit and it will bear fruit in the future. We agreed to establish a joint Uzbek-Israeli faculty in our university. It will be faculty of high technologies and innovations, according to the fact that this year, named “The year of innovation and support of entrepreneurship”, at the suggestion of our president. Therefore, it is so important to train the most highly qualified students at the high modern level. We also agreed on an exchange of students. Successful teamwork led to the fact that we decided to create this joint faculty at our university. Therefore, we are very pleased with the results of our visit.

Prof. Eduard Yakubov’, President HOT Holon Institute of Technology:
- Dear Professor, probably you are also very pleased with the results of the visit of Uzbek scientists and specialists.
I must say that the visit was wonderful. The fact is that it is multifaceted, because besides our institute the guests visited five more universities in Israel and learned many things that will help them a lot in their future work. We have developed an excellent joint action program that should deliver very good results supporting the science, economics, and cultural. The most important thing is the strengthening of friendly relations that will develop the scientific and technology cooperation. When our lectures will fly to UNNz, our students will be able to study and relax at the summer camps in Bostanlik, Chiman, Brihmula, Yusup Khan. I am convinced that we are at the beginning of a long way and this cooperation will be very fruitful. The main thing is that we have the desire to make our science world as good as possible. It has a good start, with huge perspectives, so I call our project a “Bridge between two universities - a bridge between our hearts”. It will expand and new bridges of friendship and cooperation will emerge. Our next steps are  a lot of work and we must wrap oyur sleeves and to continue to incorporate the tasks in real life.

Mr. Mordechai Kimyagarov, Director of Tel Aviv culture center "Bukhara-Yafa".
We are very happy to welcome those dear guests from Uzbekistan today. A joint project of scientists and specialists of your university and our institute cannot but rejoice. We are confident that this cooperation will fruitful with a great future. As for me, it so happened that since childhood I have been interested in issues of culture and art, the history of Uzbekistan, Central Asia, the Bukharian-Jewish community, our family. So I started collecting antiques. As a result, at this moment I collected in more than half a century more than 20 thousand various interesting exhibits.

These are ancient household items, clothes, shoes, a variety of national musical instruments; we have archived a lot of old books and photographs. In this collection, the main place is assign to the Uzbekistan, everything that is connect with the history of centuries of life on the land of Bukharian Jews and their culture. We deeply respect the Uzbek people, with which we have deep historical roots and connections. We have already held more than 40 exhibitions, but we dream that all this will be place in a large, bright building - in the museum that we want to establish. It will be call the "International Cultural Center for Natives of Uzbekistan and Central Asia".

We are celebrating with great respect the holidays of Navruz, Independence Day of Uzbekistan, and we honor our old traditions, we publish books, newspapers, magazines. We host folk festivals featuring guests with very popular and great attendance.
