Signature of a new MoU between HIT and UPEC, France


A delegation from the University Paris-Est Creteil, France, visited HIT. The visit of the delegation - led by UPEC's President and senior officials - was marked by the signature of a new MoU.

Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT - Holon Institute of Technology and Prof. Jean-Luc Dubois-Rande, President of UPEC - University Paris-Est Creteil, formalized the collaboration between both academic institutions with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both HIT and UPEC have similar Faculties and Departments; path to numerous mutual collaborations.


The first connection was made in October 2018 at the Campus France event –an initiative of the French Embassy in Israel- during which HIT's International Office representatives and UPEC's VP for International Affairs met and discussed ways to leverage and promote joint collaboration. Four months later, a first joint Erasmus+ mobility application was submitted. 

 


UPEC is the largest multidisciplinary university in France. In less than 40 years since its foundation in 1970, UPEC has managed to establish itself, both as a regionally-grounded institution and an internationally-oriented university. The university offers training in law, arts and humanities, sciences and technology, medicine and healthcare, economics and development, administration and exchange, educational science, as well as social sciences.


During the visit that took place Monday, November 18th, 2019, HIT had the honor to host a distinguished delegation of UPEC's senior officials that was accompanied by Mr. Martial Guerin, University Cooperation Officer at the Embassy on France in Israel. The delegation was comprised of Prof. Jean-Luc Dubois-Rande, President of UPEC, Dr. Laurent Thevenet, Vice-President - International Affairs, Prof. Pierre Wolkenstein, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Jean-David Avenel, Dean, Faculty of Administration and International Exchanges, Dr. Jacques Moscovici, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Prof. Martin Schwell, Vice-dean, Faculty of Sciences and Technology for International Affairs, and Mr. Bogdan Dumbravescu, Vice-dean, Faculty of Administration and International Exchanges for International Affairs.  

 


Prof. Yakubov warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed HIT's true commitment to work closely with UPEC for the benefit of a successful partnership – be it in the form of joint research, staff and student exchange, the development of joint curricula, and more.

 

HIT’s activities where presented to the guests by Dr. Refael Barkan, Head of Research, Innovation and International Ventures Authority. Also participated in the meeting on behalf of HIT: Dr. Hadas Lewy, Dr. Nava Shaked, Prof. Gila Kurtz, Dr. Ronen Sosnik, Prof. Amnon Fruchtman, Dr. Michal Balberg. Prof. Alla Zak and Dr. Arriel Benis presented their respective areas of research. With willingness to formalize the collaboration between both academic institutions, Prof. Yakubov and Prof. Dubois-Rande ended the meeting with the signature of an MoU.
