HIT - Holon Institute of Technology, through its tech transfer office - A.Y.Y.T, which is responsible for maximizing the institute's academic know-how and its’ respective application in the business world, met in the recent months with representatives of MUIC - Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center - in order to promote collaboration between the institutions. MUIC, responsible for development and implementation of information technologies, was established in 2017 and operates under direct supervision of the President of Uzbekistan, who has declared his commitment and intention to take all steps necessary to promote innovation in the country through new information technologies.

At the end of August, after visits to Israel by MUIC representatives and Uzbekistan from HIT representatives, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed, anchoring academic collaborations in the areas of research, development and entrepreneurship. The agreement primarily focuses on the role that HIT will play in preparing a new generation of Uzbeki engineers, programmers and high-tech professionals at the highest international standards in order to address the current dearth of such a professional workforce.

The collaboration will focus on a range of courses in innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership with the aim of training world-class professionals to lead Uzbekistan's knowledge-intensive industries. Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT, states that "HIT is considered a leader in multidisciplinary projects in science, engineering management and design. The Institute's choice as Uzbekistan's strategic partner testifies to our high academic status and level".

Dr. Refael Barkan, Director Head of the International Research, Innovation and International Ventures Authority and CEO of  A.Y.Y.T added "As the Institute's commercial arm, A.Y.Y.T believes in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation at the Institute. We consider this agreement as an opportunity for the Institute to impart the vast amount of knowledge gained in the above areas to various countries in the world. In doing so, we strengthen both Israel's international standing in the world and the status of the Institute as well”.
