The Winners: HIT Students Place 1st and 3rd in National "Proof of Concept" Competition

 

Eight projects reached the final stage and will receive financial support as a result of the Open Call by the FUTURE Investment Fund, established by HIT’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. Two of the projects were ranked 1st and 3rd in the national competition organized by the Council for Higher Education (CHE) which included 52 projects submitted by 18 different academic institutions.

 

 

The nationwide competition is part of the CHE’s new financial initiative to promote outstanding student ventures in the Proof of Concept (POC) phase. The purpose of this incentive program is to enable projects to move off the drawing table of academic exercises to become viable business opportunities.

 

The criteria for selecting the ventures included, among other things, the degree of innovation and originality of the venture in relation to sustainability in the market; extent of potential impact on the problem it intended to resolve and on the daily life of the target audience; feasibility of the venture in terms of capital investment for commercial realization; quality of the project team, submission and presentation of the venture during the competition.

 

Among the projects submitted to the competition by HIT, two - SAPA and EYECAN - placed 1st and 3rd. The projects will receive funding to bring them to the Feasibility Phase.

 

 

The Champions:

 

Noa Paul –‘SAPA’- Graduate of the Department of Industrial Design, developed a sustainable solution for the world of architecture and interior design.

 

Amit Fisher and Tomer Etinger – ‘EYECAN’ - Students in the Department of Industrial Design, developed a project in the field of SPORT-TECH which allows people with visual impairments and spatial disorientation to participate in sports activities without an escort.

Nadav Feiner – ‘GROOVE ‘- Graduate of the Department of Industrial Design, designed a project for innovative learning experiences for children using an adapted work surface.

 

Liad Hazoot and Gal Duan – ‘BFIT’ - Students in the Department of Computer Sciences developed an app that connects sports coaches with trainees.

 

Ella Mor Asulin - Student in the Department of Industrial Design, developed a shirt for physiotherapy practice for people with mobility disabilities.

 

Shahar Vitonsky - ‘AR-BC’- Graduate student in the Master's program of Integrated Design, developed an assistive technology solution for children with dyslexia.

 

Maor Karakukli – ‘SCHOLARSHIPGO’ - Graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, developed a solution using an app to connect scholarship applicants with funding institutions.

 

Yarin Naftali- Guini - Student in the Department of Computer Sciences, developed a platform for connecting small vendors to customers in the event space.
