The Berlin Connection
Outstanding M.A. students from the Faculty of Instructional Technologies attend Berlin workshop
International research collaboration between students from the Faculty of Instructional Technologies’ Direct Track MA program and their counterparts at the University of Applied Sciences at Berlin University met in the German city for a week-long Workshop.
The group of six outstanding students was led by Prof. Gila Kurtz, Faculty Dean, and Dr. Dan Cohen Vacs, Director of the Faculty’s undergraduate program. Both Kurtz and Cohen Vacs were awarded a grant from the EU's Erasmus +Program to conduct research into the integration of social robots into study curriculum and the development of instructional scenarios based on social robots and AI.
Marah Katish Khalifa, who holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently earning her Master's degree in this unique track, enthusiastically shared her experience: "I thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and tours in the various laboratories around Berlin. We were able to find common ground and new perspectives related to our projects and our research objectives. It was fascinating”.
Elad Daniel, who also participated in the delegation, noted that “the Direct Track MA program offers me an exciting glimpse into new areas of knowledge such as AI and Social Robots and their integration into the learning processes. Participating in this trip presented me with an opportunity to be exposed to a different academic culture and also to new knowledge. One of the highlights for me was to see the human robots at our host university."
Participation of the students in the Workshop was made possible through a grant to HIT from the Council of Higher Education (CHE), which allocated these resources to advance HIT’s international activities and collaborations with academic partners in Europe and other regions. Ira Ivshin Guetta, Coordinator of Mobility Projects in the International Office, was actively involved in organization of this enriching student experience.
