Ms. Bowe talked about her experience as an aeronautical engineer and an entrepreneur managing multi-million dollar defense contracts and private-sector technology clients. Ms. Bowe spoke about her journey from underachieving high school student (by her own admission), to earning an aerospace engineering degree to working at NASA, and overcoming self-doubt to become an entrepreneur and founding and leading her own company.

Aisha Bowe is the Founder and CEO of STEMBoard, a tech company that creates smart systems and software solutions for private and public-sector clients. As one of a few female tech entrepreneurs in her space, Aisha is dedicated to creating opportunities for women and people of color in STEM related careers. Aisha practices what she preaches, with women and people of color making up more than 2/3rds of her leadership team.

Bowe holds a B.S.E. in aerospace engineering and an M. Eng in space systems engineering, both from the University of Michigan. She has received numerous awards for her dedication to technical excellence and the principles of diversity and opportunity, including: The 40 Under 40: Tech Diversity – Silicon Valley; the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce Emerging Star Award; and NASA’s Engineering Honor Award.

In her speech Ms. Bowe encouraged her listeners to believe in themselves and their way and to pursue their goals as well as to find mentors that will accompany them along the way.
