An International Mathematics Workshop was held in honor of the 70th birthday of Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT.

The workshop was attended by renowned mathematicians from Israel and abroad, and was initiated by Prof. David Shoikhet, VP for Academic Affairs and Prof. Anatoly Golberg, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics.

Heartfelt congratulations were extended to Prof. Yakubov by leadership, colleagues and staff. This included Mr. Pinchas (Pini) Cohen, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Adir Pridor, Chairman of HIT's Executive Committee, Prof. David Shoikhet, CEO Mr. Samuel Goldberg, Dr. Refael Barkan, VP for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization, Adv. Numerous heads of leading academic institutions in Uzbekistan and the Israeli Ambassador to Tashkent also gave warm greetings on this special milestone occasion.

The speakers noted the myriad positive developments at HIT since Prof. Yakubov assumed office 8 years ago, from the quantum leap in the number of academic programs and degrees which are now offered at HIT to the broad scope of international outreach that he has achieved.

The Workshop, which was conducted on campus with overseas participation via Zoon, included lectures on the following topics.

  • Prof. Adir Pridor, HIT, Israel, Scope and Proponents of Industrial Mathematics
  • Prof. Azimbay Sadullaev, NUUz, Uzbekistan
  • Prof. Mark Agranovsky, BIU, Israel, Mono and stereo in problems of reconstructive mathematics -two is better than one
