Kosovo Interested in Pursuing Possible Collaboration with HIT in Technology and Education


The Kosovo Minister of Local Government Administration, together with a distinguished delegation, visited HIT recently as guests of the Research Authority in the Office of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization.

He noted that the COVID pandemic demonstrated to the world the importance of technology not only in terms of remote learning, but also the employment opportunities it can provide. He indicated that Kosovo is aiming to develop and expand its technological capabilities, for purposes not only of education, but also government and administration as well.


The Ambassador of Kosovo in Israel, Ms. Ines Demiri, chose HIT as the first stop on her official visit when she assumed office two years ago, during which time she already expressed her country's desire to strengthen ties with Israel, and especially with HIT, in efforts to bolster higher education in Kosovo. She indicated that this is at the top of her country's list of priorities.

The purpose of the meeting was to learn first- hand about the academic and research activities carried out at HIT and to examine areas for possible cooperation with the government of Kosovo.


The delegation was welcomed by Ms. Mala Braslavsky, Director of the Research Authority in the Office of the Vice-President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Internationalization. She was joined by HIT's CEO Shmuel Goldberg, Dean of the Faculty of Instructional Technologies; Prof. Gila Kurtz and Mr. Oren Ben Aharon, the Faculty’s Head of Administration; Dr. Elad Segev from the School of Multidisciplinary Studies and Ms. Toni Levy, External Relations Officer in the Office of the President.


From Kosovo, the delegation from the Ministry of Local Government Administration was led by the Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Albert Krasniči, and included Kosovo Ambassador to Israel, Ms. Ines Demiri and the Israeli Ambassador to Kosovo, Ms. Tamar Ziv, as well as two advisers to the Minister, Mr. Fidan Kalaja and Mr. Veton Mulliqi.


Ms. Lior Herman, Advisor to the Director General of the Israeli Ministry for Regional Cooperation, accompanied the guests.
