An official delegation from Uganda, led by the country's Vice-President, Ms. Jessica Alupo, was welcomed at HIT as part of a study tour in Israel.

The delegation, which included about ten representatives and was accompanied by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, came to closely observe the academic and research activities taking place at the Institute, particularly in the fields of innovation and internationalization.

The purpose of the visit was to understand how the Institute could help Uganda in training academic experts in their country’s most needed professions.

Prof. Yakubov gave a brief overview of the Institute and its academic and extra-academic programs and spoke of the importance that HIT affords to internationality, as seen in our collaborations with 130 universities in 35 countries in North America, Europe and Asia.  He noted that this is the second time in the last month when a delegation from one of the most important countries in Africa is visiting the Institute.

Dr. Refael Barkan provided an overview pioneering program in digital medical technologies.

Ms. Alupo, also an educator, said that she strongly encourages this kind of cooperation and that there are a number of universities in Uganda which have a curriculum similar to HIT's. She encouraged the sharing of knowledge and student exchange programs between the two institutions, which could serve as a model and a bridge to other African countries. "The Ugandan government has emblazed on its banner the accessibility of education to all sectors of its citizenry" said the Vice President,  “and I promise to assist in establishing contact between you and Makerere University in Uganda, in order to implement joint programs for both institutions”.
