HIT's International Week Gala Event

 

HIT's International Week ended in a grand Gala Event at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.

 

The guests of the international Week gathered in the evening at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation. Where, they were welcomed and greeted by HIT's President Prof. Eduard Yakubov and enjoyed a lavish buffet, chamber music and a guest appearance by Opera Soprano Veronika Brook.

During the ceremony, Prof. Yakubov was surprised by a member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Prof. Azimbay Sadullaev, who has awarded him a special thank-you gift: a traditional hand-made Uzbek Vase.

Dr. Refael Barkan, Head of Research, Innovation and International Ventures Authority thanked the guests from Israel and abroad and said that one of the keys to the authority's success is its special structure which puts research and innovation under one roof, where everybody works close together in interaction, thus creating a unique eco-system.

 

Dr. Guy Yoskovitz Deputy Director of Research, Innovation and International Ventures Authority and Head of International Ventures greeted the guests saying that this entire week is a dream come true. "We are not afraid to dream far and we strongly believe in collaboration and in bringing in the right people to work together".

Ms. Marissa Gross Yarm, Head of International Student Affairs at the Israeli Council for Higher Education thanked the organizers for the event and all the partners who came to Israel from around the world, saying that this week stressed the place of innovation both in Academia and Hi-Tech industry in Israel. "You've tasted bits and pieces from what Israel has to offer and I'm hopeful that it will lead to further collaborations and students coming to Israel to study".

Dr. Andreas Zehetner from the University of Applied Sciences, Upper Austria, talked about his impressions of the International Week and said that he had never seen such a unique combination of technology and talented people as he's encountered at HIT. He also mentioned the various technological ideas that relate to the future, which impressed him while visiting, and said that this visit should remain with him for a long time.

Special thanks were given to Ms. Deborah Sharabi Head of International Office and to Ms. Ira Ivshin Guetta International Student Exchange Advisor, for all their efforts and hard work in preparing and producing the International Week.
