Watch some exciting projects that our students led

Renovation of ADI Center – support for at-risk girls, Rehovot

Hila Faraj and Sapir Shlomo, faculty of technology management

After we got rid of broken furniture, we fixed holes and painted the walls and ceiling. We then refurnished the entire place according to the manager’s instructions. We made sure that another workshop will continue working on this project with the help of the girls at the center. We also found a maintenance professional who kindly volunteered to help on a regular basis with the Center’s needs.

Cheering up hospitalized children: Medical clowning and recovery teddy bears

Rotem Rostemi and Niv Laufer, faculty of technology management

We recruited two nonprofits – “Recovery Teddy Bears” and “Simchat Ha’lev” – together with Wolfson Hospital in Holon to cooperate in this project. We set up a platform to collect donations for purchasing teddy bears for children at the hospital, reaching our goal in two weeks. Most exciting was our visit to the hospital at the Children Emergency and Children Department to meet the kids and hand them teddy bears. We also brought a medical clown who made the entire event much more fun.

Digital literacy instruction for senior citizens

Gal Levi, faculty of science

In this project we instructed senior citizens how to use digital technology for their needs. We brought together kids and senior citizens who met at the community center in Gedera, where the former taught the latter various technological uses, such as how to use a smartphone to make a medical appointment or to share a picture with their family on whatsapp.

“Many senior women approached me to thank me for the activity. One of them told me that it was the first time for her to sit by a computer. Others were excited to tell me that before our sessions together they didn’t even know how to save a contact number on their smartphone.”

The project is being continued! Rika and Yasmin, the social workers at the community center are taking care of keeping up with bringing young kids to interact with the senior citizens, instructing and supporting them in the use of technology.
