Recently the WiFi consortium approved the new 802.11n standard (draft) as a basis for the new WiFi certification. The new standard expected to be the de facto standard for wireless home multi-media streaming as well as data transfer. In the lecture we will talk about a WLAN system in general - what is a WLAN system? We would address the WLAN channel - what is so unique about the WLAN channel? We would touch the standard status - why was there a need for a new standard? What was before the 802.11n emerged? After this background we would discuss the new 802.11n features and will dive to MIMO and some other novel techniques that the standard embrace.
