CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS AND PARTICIPATION

Dear Colleagues,

Following the successful tradition of previous years, we are announcing GSC 2016 – the annual meeting of Israeli graduate students in all institutions of high education, in the field of Systems and Control Theory (in the broad sense). Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) and its President are very pleased to host the meeting in 2016.

The meeting is free, but needs registration. Early registration will help us to organize the meeting properly. Please mail registration (name and affiliation) to: ezraz@hit.ac.il

As always, the meeting is intended as a platform for non-formal exchange of ideas and, in particular:
  • A unique opportunity for the students to present their work and obtain feedback on it.
  • A chance for the students to get acquainted with their peers in other Israeli institutions, and faculty in their field.
  • An opportunity for the faculty and thesis supervisors to find out about each other's current research interests.
  • A meeting between Academia and Industry, who are invited to the event, a chance for the students to meet potential employers and a chance for the industry to recruit potential employees.

We solicit 15-25 minutes presentations by graduate students working on a thesis (Partial results may be submitted). The exact duration of the presentation will be decided upon after receiving the proposed presentations.

Please provide as soon as possible, and no later than Sunday, April 3, 2016, the following details:
  • Name
  • Affiliation
  • Studying towards degree (M.Sc. or D.Sc.)
  • Expected graduation date
  • Thesis Supervisor
  • Title of talk
  • Abstract of the talk (up to one page)

Please send the above by email to: ezraz@hit.ac.il

As always, the event will include awarding of the Velger prize for an outstanding graduate student work. The prize has been established jointly by IAAC and El-Op company in memorial of the late Dr. Marko Velger, a distinguished member of the Israeli control community. Students who wish to be considered for the prize should submit no later than April 3, 2016, in addition to the above, a letter of recommendation from their thesis supervisor. They may (but do not have to) submit any material (e.g. a paper) which they consider relevant to the case. Candidates for the Velger prize are eligible only if they stay the whole day, from first to last lecture.

Here is also a link to the IAAC website. http://iaac.technion.ac.il/students.html

The success of the event obviously depends on the participation of the students, the faculty and industry people. We hope that you and your students and colleagues will join us on May, 2, 2016.
