Abstract:
The theory of weighted norm inequalities for some main operators in Harmonic Analysis originated in the beginning of the 70's in the works by R. Hunt, B. Muckenhoupt, R. Wheeden, R. Coifman and C. Fefferman. In particular, it was realized that the key role in this theory is played by the so-called $A_p$ condition. Much later, in the 90's, a question about the sharp dependence of the $L^p(w)$ operator norm on the $A_p$ characteristic of the weight appeared. This question was relatively simple for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator; a solution was found by S. Buckley in 1993. It turned out that for the Calderón-Zygmund operators the question is much more complicated; it was settled by T. Hytönen in 2010. Very recently we found a simplified approach to Hytönen's result. In this talk we first show an elementary proof of Buckley's theorem. Then we discuss some details of a simple proof of Hytönen's theorem.

Light refreshments will be served at 11:45 am. Everybody is welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you all,
