Random matrices have found applications in numerous fields in physics and mathematics. In this talk, I will give a short introduction into Random Matrix Theory and will summarize a few famous results. Then I will introduce the non-Hermitian and the normal matrix models and discuss the differences between them. Later on, I will concentrate on a normal matrix model which is of special interest since it models a two-dimensional Coulomb gas. I will present some universal results on its sub-leading asymptotic behavior.
