Prof. Daniel Charny
Is an acclaimed curator and design educator deeply interested in the role of making in our future lives. He is creative director of the London based consultancy From Now On and co-founder director of the award winning world-wide social design initiative Fixperts. Charny is Professor of Design at Kingston University and guest professor at KADK in Copenhagen, previously a Senior Tutor at Royal College of Art. He is best known as curator of the Power of Making exhibition for the Victoria and Albert museum; as founding curator of the Aram Gallery and as founding director of the hardware incubator Central Research Laboratory.


 
 
Prof. Wolfgang Laubersheimer
Was born in Bad Kreuznach. After his high-school graduation he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and then studied metal sculpture in Cologne. In 1982 he founded together with other designers and artists the production company for furniture « Unikate» and in 1985 the design group «Pentagon».
As an independent designer or as a member of the group «Pentagon» he participated in countless exhibitions as e.g. «Wohnen von Sinnen», «documenta 8», «Bienale Sao Paolo», «Maßstäbe»in the architectuzre museum Frankfurt, or «Design Horizonte».
He participated in many competitions he was invited for, cooperated with companies as e.g.: Swatch, AEG, Mercedes-Benz and Tiffany, has his own production company and leaded guest projects at the Polytechnikum in Hong Kong and at the UCLA in Los Angeles.
Since 1992 he is a professor for production technology at the Köln International School of Design.
 

 

Carlos Peralta Ph.D. (Cantab)
Carlos is a design researcher with a product design background. He is part of the research team of the Design Driven Value Chains in the World of Cellulose (DWoC) project at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. His research interest is centred on interdisciplinary collaboration, especially between designers and scientists. He pursues both theoretical and practice-based design research.
Carlos is also a senior lecturer in design at the University of Brighton in the UK. His experience includes work in design higher education, design consultancy, and entrepreneurship over 25 years in various countries such as Colombia, Spain, Singapore, the UK and now Finland. Carlos' other research interests include system thinking and complexity, and design for social issues.
