String Theory is a leading research field in theoretical high energy physics. In this field the dynamics of all the particles in the universe is described by relativistic quantum "strings". Surprisingly such a description enables the unification of the most fundamental physical theories, Einstein's theory of general relativity and quantum theory.

The topic of the conference is String Field Theory (SFT), which is a particular approach towards the definition of string theory. Recently there has been a dramatic development in SFT, which is expressed among other things by the construction of new super-string field theories, which are the ones that are relevant for the description of nature.

 SFT@HIT conference

Since 1989, an annual international string theory conference is being held. This year, it is held for the first time in Israel. There are three satellite conferences to the Strings conference, held at the Technion, the Weizmann Institute of Science, and at HIT (the SFT conference).

The SFT conference was organized by. Dr. Michael Kroyter from the Faculty of Sciences with Prof. Zohar Komargodski from The Weizmann Institute of Science. The local organizing committee also includes Prof. Anatoly Golberg from the Faculty of Sciences and Dr. Alon Marcus from the Open University.
