A Delegation from Kauno Kolegija Visits HIT
On Wednesday, May 6th, 2015, delegates from Kauno Kolegija, one of Lithuania's leading technological higher education and research institutes, visited HIT. The purpose of their visit was to inquire into HIT's diverse academic and research operations, and to consider avenues for future collaboration. The delegation featured Ms. Jolanta Valiaugiene, Head of the Department of International Studies, and Ms. Irma Spudyte, Head of the Department of Developing Academic Programs.
Visiting the Communication Engineering Lab
The visitors were welcomed by Dr. Refael Barkan, Head of HIT's Research, Development, and External Relations Authority. During their visit, the guests met Prof. Motti Haridim, the Vice President of Academic Development, and Dr. Yosef Ben Ezra, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and several Heads of research centers and labs.
Dr. Refael Barkan reported to the guests on HIT's present research interests, the new labs and research centers on campus, and current collaborative enterprises with academic institutions and industries in Israel and abroad. Ms. Jolanta Valiaugiene presented Kauno Kolegija's research interests and international collaboration strategy. Among else, a discussion was held about possible collaboration through the Erasmus Plus program, which includes student and teacher exchanges between academic institutions, and about designing a joint academic master's program in Engineering and/or Exact Sciences.
Visiting the 3D Printing Lab
Kauno Kolegija's delegates also toured several of the research centers and labs in the faculties of Sciences and Engineering: Dr. Alla Zak's Center for Nanomaterials, Prof. Lev Rapoport's Tribology Laboratory, the Communication Engineering Superlab, Prof. Motti Haridim's Antennae and Radiation Lab, and Prof. Amnon Fruchtman's Plasma Lab. Finally, the delegates paid a visit to the Faculty of Design's 3D lab, as well as the Bio-Design exhibit on display at the Faculty of Design's research gallery.
