HTW Dresden's senior management members visit HIT

 
A special formal visit to HIT by senior representatives of the University of Applied Sciences HTW (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft) , in Dresden, Germany.
 
Prof. Dr. Roland Stenzel – the university's Rector and Prof. Dr. Ralph Sonntag Vice-Rector for Teaching and Study, have visited HIT for the first time as the first step in establishing fruitful collaboration between the two institutions.

Prof. Eduard Yakubov. President of HIT greeted the guests and said that this is the first step of what looks like a new and much appreciated collaboration between both institutions who have much in common. "One of the most striking resemblances between |HIT and HTW is the fact that we're both targeted at the industry "said prof. Yakubov."We both train our students to take an active part of the industry and continue to develop it"

Prof. Dr. Ralph Sonntag , Vice –Rector for teaching and study at HTW, said that HIT and HTW have a lot in common based on their various faculties and their selection of courses, and it would be a great idea to initiate a student exchange program between both schools".

The guests were given an extensive overview of HIT by Dr. Rafi Barkan, Head of R&D and External Relations authority and later on by Prof. Yosef Ben Ezra, Dean of the faculty of Engineering, Prof. Arik Sadeh, Dean of the Faculty of Technology management, Dr. Nissim Harel from the department of computer science, Dr. Ronen Hammer from the faculty of Instructional Technologies, Prof. Motti Haridim ,Vice president for academic development and head of the SAR lab and Yael Avni, from the MADE lab.
 
During the meeting some suggestions were brought up regarding possible collaboration between both institutions:
  • Establishing a student's exchange program- students will study one semester at either campus, in addition there could be a possibility of combining studies and work at local industries.
  • Joint design exhibitions
  • Joint conferences or academic gatherings held with representatives from both institutions.
  • Collaboration in research projects related to entrepreneurship.

The guests have visited various centers at HIT among them the "Connector" exhibition, where they were guided by Tamir Sheffr, head of the Visual Communication Design department ; the M3IC lab, headed by Dr. Michal Balberg and the Innovations center ,where they were given a brief tour of the Robotics lab by Dr. Jacob Damatov.

The visit concluded with a mutual decision to further expand the academic connections between HIT and HTW.
